Wolf Italian Serenade
Borodin Quartet No 1 in A
One of the world’s great chamber groups, the Borodin Quartet return with a programme which includes Wolf’s single-movement work and music from the Russian composer from whom they take their name. Haydn’s Op 33 set, from which they perform two quartets, was dedicated to the Russian Grand Duke Paul, later Tsar Paul I, and described by the composer as having been written ‘in a new and special way, for I have not composed any for ten years’.
