Through her award-winning recordings and acclaimed performances Ingrid Fliter has proven herself an outstanding Chopin interpreter. Tonight on her first visit to Turner Sims she presents a selection of the composer’s work. The programme including the Op 28 set of preludes, which, like Bach’s Well-tempered Clavier, takes the listener on a journey through the 24 major and minor keys. Describing the works as ‘special compositions’, Liszt declared ‘The music is spontaneous, brilliant and fresh. They have the freedom and spaciousness characteristic of works of genius’.
