Uos Music Presents | Strama

MONDAY 13 FEBRUARY - 1:00 PM

Presented by University of Southampton Music Department

Strama performs a selection of original songs, including those from her 2022 EP, Silver Linings. Featuring her debut single Milk & Honey which saw immediate praise from the likes of COLORSxSTUDIOS, BBC Asian Network, Stereofox and Wordplay Magazine, as well as her single Cycle which landed a coveted spot on Spotify’s New Music Friday UK and Netherlands, and single I Know You Know which was championed by CLASH, Notion and The Independent, Strama’s solo project has also amassed an impressive total of nearly 200,000 listening streams since release. Written, recorded, and produced by Strama completely independently, the EP highlights Strama’s jazz-tinged tone and her natural gift for telling poignant stories through her music, which also takes inspiration from artists such as Jorja Smith, Sade and Cleo Sol.

23-year old Strama has absorbed a diverse blend of influences, culminating in a dreamy soulful and alternative sound. The London-based musician grew up listening to her parent’s Jazz, Motown, Classical and Cinematic record collection, while training as a classical pianist. Strama is Italian-Romanian but was raised in The Netherlands, connecting her to multiple cultures and sounds.
