Charlie Blogs…

As her six months comes to an end, we say goodbye and thank you to our intern Charlie Laundon, who was here through funding from Southampton City Council. Read on as she reflects on her experiences here at Turner Sims…

I have enjoyed every minute of my internship here at Turner Sims. It has been a great privilege to work with such great people and I have learned so much over the last six months about what it takes on a day-to-day basis to run such an outstanding concert hall. I was able to meet and work with some of the artists, both local and international, and I especially enjoyed the chance to interview Daniel Herskedal. It was also a huge highlight to see a Mercury Prize nominee live in concert. ESKA is amazing and will go far in the future.

Writing blogs for the Turner Sims website was really interesting and exciting. I was able to be creative and express my own opinions – I especially enjoyed coming up with some questions for Daniel Herskedal ahead of his concert and I couldn’t quite believe when he sent an email back with his responses.

I have been able to develop new skills and better experience that has given me a huge insight as to my next steps and where I hope to be in the future. Working here has taught me that I can make a living and still be passionate about doing something I love.

I would like to thank all the staff at Turner Sims for being so kind and welcoming –  you were all a pleasure to work with and have taught me a lot over the last six months. A special thank you to Concert Hall Manager Kevin Appleby for offering me this opportunity. This has been an extraordinary, life-changing experience. It has been an honour to work for you over the last six months and I am very sad to leave.
