New Dimensions: Fanfare for Gosport

New Dimensions’ latest commission sees composer Kirsty Devaney working with Gosport Solent Brass to create a new work which celebrates the town and its communities.

Fanfare for Gosport is inspired by the heritage and people of Gosport, and each movement of the piece reflects an aspect of the town. Metal and Salt, takes inspiration from Gosport’s rich naval history, capturing the claustrophobic atmosphere and sounds of a submarine as it slowly dives deeper and deeper. Looking Out Looking Back focuses on the stories of Gosport people. The final movement takes the idea of a fanfare and is more forward looking.

The piece is being premiered as part of Gosport Heritage Open Days. Following this first public performance, it will be recorded and available as a CD and download. A documentary film about the project is also being produced. Details and updates will be posted on the New Dimensions website.
