Turner Sims mourn the passing of Professor Peter Evans, who died at the age of 88 on 1 January.
He was a key figure in the life of Turner Sims, and the driving force behind the venue’s construction. He was instrumental in the founding of the University of Southampton Music department, an influential scholar of the music of Benjamin Britten and a practical musician of many gifts. Here he is conducting the university orchestra in the concert hall shortly after its opening in 1974.
