Southampton Philharmonic Choir | Reflection – Music for Contemplation

Southampton Philharmonic Choir returns to Turner Sims with the Southampton University Philharmonic Choir, under the direction of David Gibson, to transform the hall into a sanctuary of sound and offer a concert experience like no other.

Titled ‘Reflection’, this event promises to take the audience on a journey through some of the most evocative choral masterpieces of the last century.

The programme will feature a selection of stunning works, each chosen for its ability to evoke deep emotions and inspire contemplation. Among the highlights are the choral suite from Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man, a stirring mass for peace that resonates with both power and poignancy, and Morten Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium and Dirait-on, which capture the sublime through ethereal harmonies and tender melodies.

Listeners will also be treated to Northern Lights by Ola Gjeilo, a composition inspired by the awe-inspiring natural phenomenon of the aurora borealis, and Music of Stillness by Elaine Hagenberg, a serene and contemplative work that invites reflection and tranquility.
