Summer Festival | Orchestra Of The Swan | Earthcycle

SUNDAY 30 JUNE - 7:30 PM

…one of the most inventive groups around in the UK today… Their performances tend towards the mesmeric; their videos are phenomenally inventive… An unforgettable experience.

Seen and Heard International

We celebrate the 300th anniversary of Vivaldi’s extraordinary Four Seasons with innovative chamber ensemble Orchestra of the Swan.

Vivaldi’s original Four Seasons is performed alongside a new version by baroque and jazz composer David Gordon (who is appearing at the BBC Proms this summer). It is interspersed with traditional songs by folk singer Jackie Oates. Directing the ensemble is violinist David Le Page, well known to Turner Sims audiences from his regular appearances with Harvey Brough and the University of Southampton Voices.

Music, lighting and film combine in this powerful concert, which contemplates humanity’s impact on the environment. Earthcycle highlights the modern world’s greatest concern whilst celebrating nature and our place within it.
