Interim Operations Manager

Location: Highfield Campus
Salary: £30,942 Pro rata per annum
Part Time (21 hours) Fixed Term for 10 months

An opportunity has arisen to work with Turner Sims Southampton, nationally renowned concert hall and live music producing organisation, part of the University of Southampton, as maternity cover for the Head of Operations, commencing in March 2021.

Turner Sims is seeking an exceptional individual to lead on venue operations; health and safety and compliance (ensuring a covid-19 safe environment), the management and development of internal and external communication processes, to manage all aspects of finance, drive income generation and provide direction and motivation for the team.

The successful applicant will be an experienced arts/cultural venue manager, with proven ability to plan and manage events of varying scales and complexity, experience of planning marketing campaigns, developing audiences for music/arts activities, experience of liaising with the media and a practical working knowledge and experience of music and arts/cultural administration in general.

Concert and Promotions Intern

We’re hiring! Come and be a part of the Marketing and Communications team at Turner Sims Southampton.

We are looking for an enthusiastic University of Southampton student to become our Concert Promotions Intern. This is an amazing opportunity to join the Turner Sims team; play a key role in the promotion of our world-class classical, jazz, world and folk music programmes and gain first-hand experience of working in the music industry.

UoS Internship (minimum £8.21 per hour for external roles or minimum £9.42 per hour for internal and 3rd Sector roles)

140 hours over 20 weeks (inclusive of university holidays) – 7 hours per week. Post will start W/C 15th March 2021 until 31st July 2021.

Music Showcase Intern

Get involved with emerging talent from the University of Southampton’s Music Department and support student performers on their professional journey!

The University of Southampton Music Department are looking for two motivated Music students to become Music Showcase Interns. The Showcase scheme that this role supports is a platform to help give exposure to student performers within the Music Department which has history of developing world-class performers, including jazz singer Joe Stilgoe and Mercury-nominated, singer-songwriter Anna Calvi.

You will coordinate and plan the Music Showcase scheme in liaison with Department of Music staff; developing online and face-to-face musical performances and events, and organising career training for musicians. Work with staff and students to explore the right kind of events to put on or products/activities to develop in the current COVID-19 circumstances, and then make them happen.

UoS Internship (minimum £8.21 per hour for external roles or minimum £9.42 per hour for internal and 3rd Sector roles)

The posts will start w/c 1st February 2021 through until 14th May 2021
. You will work 140 hours in total, 20 of which will be worked during the Easter break.
