Turner Sims Southampton is looking for two enthusiastic University of Southampton students to become Concert Promotions Interns. This is an amazing opportunity to join the Turner Sims team here on Highfield Campus; play a key role in the promotion of our world-class classical, jazz, world and folk music programmes and gain first-hand experience of working in the music industry!

The successful applicants will be organised and adaptable with an eye for detail, able to show initiative and work well with minimum supervision. This is a varied role, which involves compiling and designing concert programmes, sourcing advertising, writing blogs, producing concert reviews, contributing to print and digital marketing plans and promoting ticket offers for University of Southampton students and young people aged 8-25. You will need a good grasp of standard IT packages, social media, be willing to discuss advertising opportunities with companies and liaise with artists to obtain copy for the concert programmes.

The posts will start w/c 2nd December 2019 through until Friday 1st May 2020, excluding a 2 week break over Christmas w/c 23/012/2019 and w/c 30/12/2019 but including the Easter holiday period.

The rate of pay will be £8.92 per hour, working 1 day per week x 20 weeks.

The University of Southampton Music Department are looking for two motivated 2nd or 3rd year Music students to become Music Showcase Interns. The Showcase scheme that this role supports is a platform to help give exposure to student performers within the Music Department which has history of developing world-class performers, including jazz singer Joe Stilgoe and Mercury-nominated, singer-songwriter Anna Calvi.

The role will involve the co-ordination and administration of the Showcase scheme and performances, booking and promoting performers, liaising with external enquirers and organising internal projects. You will promote opportunities for students available at Turner Sims and any Turner Sims and Music Department partnership projects.The successful applicants will be organised and efficient, adaptable and independent, an enthusiastic advocate of music, and have a good grasp of standard IT packages.

The posts will start w/c 11th November 2019 through until Friday 14th February 2020. You will work 140 hours in total, 10 hours per week (inclusive of the Christmas holiday period).

The rate of pay will be £8.92 per hour.

Are you interested in stage lighting and sound? Are you enthusiastic and reliable? Are you passionate about live events?

This is an exciting opportunity to gain first-hand experience behind the scenes at Turner Sims. You will assist our technicians and artists in loading and unloading equipment, setting up the stage beforehand, getting the stage lighting just right, and clearing back down after events.

If you want to learn more about lighting, sound and what goes on behind the scenes at an arts venue, this role is for you!

Bar staff wanted for evening and day time events, weekdays and weekends, mainly during University of Southampton term times.

You must be able to cope with busy intervals and work as part of a close-knit team.

You will be paid the National Living Wage – which is higher than the national minimum wage. Your hourly rate will also be enhanced by 12.07% as pay in lieu for statutory holiday pay.
