INTERN INSIGHTS: Introducing Hope Felts King

Next up, we get to know Hope Felts King, Music Showcase Intern for the University of Southampton Music Department, a little better…

My name is Hope Felts King and I am currently in my third year of BA Music at University of Southampton. I play classical percussion and I am an avid composer. Last year my piece for orchestra The Albatross was played by the Southampton University Symphony Orchestra (SUSO) who regularly perform at Turner Sims. I have worked with Turner Sims in the past as an orchestral manager for SUSO.

I am looking forward to starting my internship and am really looking forward to learning more about the behind the scenes of running a concert hall. I am also excited to create events and play through the process from idea to performance.

In my spare time I love to cook and play with my housemates’ cats, Compton and Nugget.

Next year I hope to do a Masters Degree in Composition. I love contemporary classical music, the more outrageous the better. I also love rhythmic music like that from Latin America.
