Since winning the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2012, Federico Colli has become a favourite with audiences over the world. ‘Staggering musicianship and maturity‘ is how Bachtrack described his Turner Sims debut in 2015. International Piano wrote of his latest release of works by Mozart on the Chandos record label, ‘His pianism could hardly be more vibrantly alive or brilliantly etched…’.
He presents a concert full of fantasy and dreams. Tonight’s programme includes Prokofiev’s set of 20 miniatures, and an arrangement by Maria Grinberg of Schubert’s intensely personal Fantasy in F minor, originally for piano duet.
The recital ends with Prokofiev’s musical fairytale Peter and the Wolf, arranged for piano by the pianist and close friend of Shostakovich, Tatiana Nikolaeva.
