Named Young Artist of the Year at the 2015 Gramophone Awards, and nominated for a Grammy Award a year later, German pianist Joseph Moog makes his Turner Sims debut with a programme which includes one of Liszt’s extraordinary transcriptions of Beethoven’s nine symphonies. Ravel’s technically demanding masterpiece, which ends the evening, was inspired by the poems of French Romantic poet Aloysius Bertrand, and described by the great French pianist Alfred Cortot as ‘one of the most astonishing examples of instrumental ingenuity ever contrived.’
