Caroline Bell
A Common Thread
Monday 12th September – Sunday 30th October
Caroline Bell is a local artist working predominantly in the medium of textiles. She is mainly concerned with the natural world and uses mark making, colouring and printing processes directly derived from nature, the results of which are then embellished with hand stitch. For her the journey to a finished piece is often as important if not more important than the end product. Inspiration comes from the world around, time and the passing of the seasons.
A Common Thread is the result of a yearlong study of the dye, print and mark making potential of the vegetation of a specific area namely Southampton Common.
A book accompanying this exhibition is available from the Box Office.
