A free lunchtime concert presented by the Department of Music at the University of Southampton.

In the early nineteenth century, belcanto music flourished through complex and exciting interaction between composer and performer.  Singers had the power and the responsibility to bring music to life through their own virtuosity and expressiveness, instilling a sense of novelty and creativity into their performances.
In this programme, Italian soprano Licia Piermatteo and pianist Francesco Izzo explore operatic music from Mozart to Rossini and Verdi, demonstrating the adventurous and exciting art of belcanto.
