The ‘Queen of May’ opens our Folk Weekend with a special performance.

Lisa Knapp is renowned for her spellbinding vocals and command of traditional song. She is joined by the brilliant multi-instrumentalist and producer Gerry Diver. Together, they form a compelling musical duo at the cutting edge of contemporary folk.

Their sound is richly textured and emotionally powerful, drawing from English and Irish traditions. They layer twin fiddles, percussion, autoharp, electronica, field recordings, and Lisa’s spellbinding voice into bold, atmospheric arrangements. Their 2025 album ‘Hinterland’ was praised as ‘Folk at its most exalted’ by The Observer, ‘A marvel’ by Mojo magazine, and ‘Utterly haunting’ by Songlines.

Live, Lisa and Gerry bring ‘Hinterland’ to life with intimacy, innovation, and intensity.

Before the show…

Don’t miss The Vibe Lounge at 7pm in the Turner Sims Foyer. Join us for free live music!

Spectral fiddle, layered vocals and breakdown into skitterish club beats... utterly haunting... one of Knapp's finest vocals.
