Southampton University Jazz Band Alumni Concert

Join Southampton University Jazz Band (SUJB) as they celebrate their 10-year anniversary.
They are joined by alumni of the band, and conducted by many of their previous Musical Directors.
SUJB is the only non-auditioned Jazz Band at the University of Southampton, and it was created to provide a welcoming, inclusive and fun space for everyone to get involved with jazz playing, regardless of their experience or grade level. In the decade since its formation, SUJB has grown into a thriving band with over 50 members, hosting a number of concerts every year, as well as going on an annual music tour and gigging as a function band for many events around Southampton.
As well as the main band, Southampton University Jazz Band also has a smaller Jams group, where the musicians get together every Sunday to jam together, practicing their improvisation and developing musical ideas. In the past year, they have performed at charity fundraising events, been involved in a performance round in a music quiz, and put on a variety of live gigs around Southampton. This evening’s performance will begin with a Jam set in the Turner Sims foyer 6:30pm. We will move into the main auditorium, where current and alumni members of the band will come together to perform classic tunes and band favourites.
