The singer-songwriter and guitarist performs songs from her acclaimed six-album catalogue in this intimate concert.

California-born but now based in Manchester, Jesca Hoop is what you’d call a musician’s musician. Discovered by Tom Waits, and brought on tour by Peter Gabriel to sing in his band, it was a phone call from Elbow’s Guy Garvey that saw her move to the UK. She is praised for her intricately detailed, acoustic-led songs that blend folk tradition with inventive song writing.
Expect hauntingly beautiful vocals, expertly crafted lyrics, and melodies that reveal her boundless curiosity. Jesca Hoop delivers performances that are both intimate and spellbinding. Experience her imaginative and captivating music up close.

About Jesca Hoop

Jesca Hoop learned to sing at an early age, harmonizing with her musical Mormon family in northern California. At 16, Hoop broke away from her strict upbringing and began what she calls her ‘life as a raccoon’, off the grid and close to nature. Rambling through the high mountain deserts of the Southwest and along the coastlines of the Northwest, Hoop worked as a wilderness survival guide and chalked up skills in farming, surveying, and carpentry. Her songwriting continued throughout, shared on porches, in deep river canyons, and around campfires.

In 2004, Hoop moved to Los Angeles, where she met Tony Berg, Blake Mills, and Shawn Everett. She would record and release four records with this triad. A call out of the blue from Guy Garvey (of Elbow) saw Jesca move to the UK in 2008, where she would record a further two albums with producer Jon Parish. Hoop has an ever-growing collection of champions: Tom Waits described her music as being ‘like a four-sided coin. She is an old soul, like a black pearl, a good witch or red moon. Her music is like going swimming in a lake at night’. Peter Gabriel took her on tour through South America to sing with him, and in years past, she has been hand-picked to play as support on tour for Eels, Andrew Bird, Sinead O’Connor, Jose Gonzales, Elbow, and more.
